In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire at Gatwick, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra charges for drivers under 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for your chosen vehicle category, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or at our Gatwick office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance, along with a security deposit, is usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept leading credit and debit cards, with transactions managed through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle at Gatwick, it is crucial to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; otherwise, refueling charges will apply. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if you anticipate being late. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges accrued during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every car rental at Gatwick. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial exposure. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you opt for extra insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violations of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on your booking type and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Using the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials, sub-letting to unauthorized individuals, or allowing unapproved drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside designated geographical areas without permission are also violations of our terms.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire at Gatwick will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Governing Legislation
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in these regions.
